When you first subscribed to If: Imagination & Fantasy, you were looking for something most genre newsletters don’t offer: a genuine curatorial voice. Someone who cared about finding the boldest, most inventive sci-fi and fantasy being created right now — not just whatever the major studios had greenlit.

We hope we’ve delivered on that. And now we’re taking it further.

If: Imagination & Fantasy is becoming Zuba Realms — the sci-fi and fantasy home within Zuba, a new media brand for fans who believe that genre fiction is at its best when it’s truly, fearlessly imaginative. Alongside Zuba Fear (horror) and Zuba Core (geek culture), Zuba Realms is part of a broader mission: to champion the creators and stories that the mainstream tends to overlook.

Why the change?

After more than a year of curating some of the most exciting voices in speculative fiction, we’ve found our people — and we’ve found a home. The Zuba brand gives us a bigger platform to celebrate the kind of storytelling that takes real creative risks: new worlds, new voices, and ideas that linger long after the last page.

Zuba is part of Zuba Media, a dedicated media venture under Pyrforos Technologies — which means real infrastructure, long-term investment, and a shared vision for growing the kind of media that genre fans actually deserve. For you as a reader, it means Zuba Realms is built to last and built to grow.

There are also some practical business and legal reasons behind the rename that we needed to sort out as we grow. Nothing dramatic — just the foundation work that lets us build something lasting. Your subscription transfers automatically. Nothing for you to do.

What stays the same
